busyweekend
2002-10-02

oh my god. *bangs head on desk* what a helluva week ive had.

friday day was a terrible day of work. friday evening i drove to muncie to chill with erica before we had to make the drive to detroit for the mike errico concert. we had drinks and appetizers at a irish mexican cantina and watched tv.

staurday morning, we got up at the buttcrack of dawn, 7, i think. which is later than what i have to get up for for work, but still. no one should have to rise that early on teh weekend. we made crap time to detroit. we got stuck in the nastiest bathroom in michigan, a hometown-y festival thing and construction. speaking of construction, or lack thereof,no wonder peole in detroit are so mean. their roads will shake the teeth out of their head.

anyway, so we get to our hotel, which was pretty damn skeevy. but oh well for $50 bucks a night.... yeah. then we hop over to windsor, pick up some kinder eggs, smarties, go to roots and mcdonalds. then, we went back to the hotel to get ready.

we get ready, go to payless so i can buy some shoes that arent tennis shoes, and then we get lost on 3 different highways before we miraculously find the street that the venue is on. *blinkblink* thank god because i was afraid that erica was going to die. probably at my hand because she was starting to freak out. ((yes, i know you read this love, but damn, you were freaking out and i may have had to kill you had the situation gotten ((i know that's not a word)) any worse. ((im typing really fast and cant think. my brain in on a freaky fast mode because ive been hella busy at work.)) anywho, we drive by the venue like 4 times because we just cannot believe how absolutely disgusing it is. it's an old brick warehouse with the street address spray painted on it. freaky.

so, there were some relatively normal looking people standing outside, and we did have to get out of the car sometime, so i drug erica out of the car. turns out freaky spray painted venue is actually the venue. scary. but it was still an hour and a half before the venue "opened" but we had an in. matthew, the guy who was promoting the show, let us in early because i think he was so thrilled shitless that people were actually coming from all around for this show. hell yeah. it was was a weekend, waht was it to us to miss out some sleep in order to see mike in a warehouse/art gallery/ballroom in the ghetto?

so we meet up with matthew, the merch girl, lindsey, jason levasseur, one of the openers and mike. erica has a wee (keep in mind, wee) crush on jason. ((eica love, did you hear mike say that he moved somewhere in the boston area?)) matthew iced down our cheesecake and we went off into the sunset to grab some dinner.

on our way to dinner, we saw a rather strange thing. a very very thin man with no right leg was hopping along the street on crutches. not so interesting, really, except that he was hopping down in the middle lane of the street, hopping against the flow of traffic. it was, uh, strange. after trying to eat the nastiest ever mcdonalds, erica and i just gave it up and went back to the venue.

we checked it out and got to listen to sound check.

some kid named jon opened up. he was 19 and im sure a buddy of matthew's. he was a good kid and some day he'll probably be awesome. i think he needs some time. and jason went on. that was ok.

then it was mike's time. mike is so funny because he gets so strung out and weird at the end of his tours. he just gets a wee bit crispy, which is charming. so he plays. and plays. for 2 hours, his stories getting longer and weirder as he goes on. but it was perfect. absolutely perfect. he was having a great time. everyone in the crowd was having a great time. and it was simply an amazing show. the best one of his id ever seen. i was so happy we could be there.

and i'll be damned if he didnt thank erica and i for coming. that was really sweet and totally unnecessary. but it was a really nice thing for him to do. im glad he thinks we're not stalkers. which, you know, um, we arent. anyway.... so after the show we hang around. the cheesecake gets eaten. matthew is in such a daze, he looked like he's been sprinkled with fairy dust or something. he just had a glow. and im really happy that the evening went so well. =)

we give jason his candy, talk awhile with he and lindsey, and say goodbye to mike. we drive back to the hotel, almost without incident, and go to sleep for a few hours so we can get erica back to muncie for work at one.

turns out we get back to muncie at 1030. i get home at 1130 and i spend the rest of the day sleeping, being in my perpetual bad mood, and going to my dad's to do laundry, have dinner and go grocery shopping.

monday-- do nothing. take nap. feel bad. go to doctor who says nothing is wrong with my wrist.

tuesday. have shitty day at work. feel bad. go see mike. my parent's divorce is final. and i go home, straight into bed.

today. feel bad. having an incredibly busy day. doing the work of 3 people. literally. im working the hardcopy list, list 6, and still answering the phone. i wanna go home because i feel sick to my stomach. oh well. but i did have a good, if not busy and stressful, weekend.
