the ongoing saga with our piece of shit apartment: so, let me do a brief summary of the problems we've had while living in the apartment this past 6 months. no smoke detector installed when we moved in. paint in the bath tub. bath tub needs caulked. filthy broken blinds. nails sticking up out of the balcony. broken light fixture (the ceiling crashed out of nowhere). running toilet. broken refrigerator. broken hot water heater. im sure there are probably more, but you get the picture. now here are these same problems and the amount of time it took to fix these problems. smoke detector installation-- reported at move in, fixed 2 weeks after we move in. paint in the bathtub-- reported at move in, fixed 1 and 1/2 months after we moved inmoved in. bathtub caulked-- has not been done. nails-- reported at move in, fixed in july. blinds-- reported at move in, fixed in july. broken light fixture-- fixed 2 weeks after report. running toilet-- fixed by roommate's dad. broken fridge-- promised new fridge, received used fridge 5 days after old fridge expired. broken hot water heater-- "fixed" 2 days after report. what our problem with the water heater is: i take my shower (lasting anywhere from 10-15 minutes) first, then roommate will take hers. i dont use that much hot water. i know everyone says that, but im for real. my skin dires out way too easily as is, so once i warm up, then i turn it down. by the time roommate hops into the shower, there is very little hot water. so what the dude did when he came to fix the water heater was he jacked the water temperature up, so the water is hotter when it comes out of the tap, forcing us to use more cold water to get a nice warm mix. i asked the dude after he "fixed" it, if he really thought that was going to do it. and he said he didnt see a problem. and i asked if he really thought that jacking up the heat was actually going to fix the problem of us running out of hot water. and he said it would. of course, i didnt believe him and of course roommate didnt believe him either. well, this morning. my shower was a little on the chilly side. roommate gets into the shower and she has no hot water. she comes out, livid. she composes a letter. we are waiting to hear something back about all this... their turnaround time seems to be about 2 weeks. i'll keep you all informed. ((oh, and good luck to chickenpie, she's in the process of quitting smoking. you go!))
